Historic Lacock, Wiltshire

For anyone visiting the county of Wiltshire (most famously known for the ancient landmark that is Stonehenge), can we recommend you add the village of Lacock to your ‘to-do’ list.

The beautiful Abbey, built in 1232, and the surrounding village/lands have been perfectly preserved under the watchful eye of the National Trust, and today is a popular period location for television and movie productions. The village has appeared in TV productions of Robin of Sherwood, Pride and Prejudice and Cranford. The Abbey has appeared in the movie The Other Boleyn Girl and, more famously, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Well worth a visit, and a spot of lunch in one of the old public houses, if you are ever in the area…the perfect stopover on a recent trip back to London. Enjoy the following snapshots.
