Rhodes, Greece, Restaurant Review

For anyone staying on the Ialysos Avenue ‘hotel strip’ to the north of the island, about 2.5 miles from Rhodes medieval Old Town, we’ve pulled together a few of our favourite restaurants.

Rhodes Ixia Beach

We stayed at the Sheraton Rhodes Resort overlooking Ixia Beach, with beach access just a 3 minute walk via a private tunnel under the main road, it was the perfect location away from the busy Old Town but walking distance to a host of local bars and restaurants.

First off we highly recommend Nami Sushi & Korean BBQ restaurant, serving up a great selection of hot and cold Japanese dishes, or just have fun cooking a selection of Korean style meats and vegetables on the inlaid dining table BBQ (the retractable overhead exhaust fans are pretty impressive). Top quality produce with an extensive drinks and cocktails menu, staff were amazing, we loved the modern decor and very welcoming air conditioning…great when looking for a change from traditional Mediterranean cuisine.

Local wine recommendation: Muses Estate 9 (a dry white wine with gentle aromas of fresh-cut fruit; such as pear and apples).

For traditional Greek cuisine, with nice decor, friendly staff and good prices, head to El Greco restaurant (their fried cheese – Saganaki – got us returning for a second time).

Amalfi Coast restaurant is fantastic for lunch, located right on the beach. Offering a great selection of international cuisine, pastas, salads and tasty pizzas, we loved the chilled beach bar vibe and decor, again at great prices.

And finally, if you are looking for a smarter dining experience we recommend Villa di Mare restaurant and bar. We loved the bar, pumping out chilled house tunes, perfect for a cocktail to watch the sunset. This modern open plan restaurant offers an international menu – we loved the steak board. A great wine list and friendly welcoming staff.
