Forest Restaurant, Selfridge’s Rooftop

Selfridge's forest restaurant dessert

Selfridges rooftop dining continues to provide one of the best vibes and taste sensations in London, thanks to the team from Des McDonald Consultancy, who already have a loyal following at their Q Grill and Vintage Salt restaurants. This summer the rooftop was transformed into the Forest Restaurant & Bar, bringing an abundance of fresh British produce to your table.

The perfect spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and even with the season drawing to a close, we hope the group will be back for their winter instalment as this year we are looking to abandon the likes of The Ivy, The Wolseley and other favourites to seriously consider having our annual Christmas catch-up with friends here…what could be more dangerous then a boozy lunch in a department store?

Our recent lunch menu comprised of a spectacularly flavoured spiced tuna tartare with crispy quinoa and heritage radish (we sent our compliments to the chef) and a crumpet Benedict to start. We both had the beer battered fish and chips with mushy peas for mains – a perfect plate that went down too easy with our recommended white wine (actually both went down too quickly).

We were in chatting distance to the dessert chef so we asked him to serve us his favourite. We shared the chocolate forest dessert which actually managed to keep us both quiet for a good few minutes, well until the plate was empty. WOW is all we can say on this dish, it tasted even better than it looked, and it looked sublime.

Enjoy Forest Restaurant, and the London skyline, whilst you can. Highly recommended.
